I always use Auto Europe. They have the best rates with insurance included in the rate. Easy to cancel if a better rate comes along after you have booked and paid. when I have had to call to change a booking the reps are very helpful. I recommend to anyone that I hear needs to rent a car.
Auto Europe is a wholesaler for all car rental companies. Auto Europe does not have any control over the condition of a car or customer service when picking up or dropping off the car. They provide a service to cheap rates from most major car rental companies on line.
the car was filthy when picked up. the exterior was covered in bird droppings and the interior was not cleaned prior to pick up (old maps and sand / dirt on floors.
the return address was wrong and had difficulty finding the location with the given address. eventually went to airport information to find how to return car.
Booked our car for pick up in Florence and drop off in Sorrento. Very easy, fast service, would definetley use them again.
I have some problem with the hidden charges of 50% that was added at the car rental shop!
I booked a compact Mercedes or the equivalent but wound up with a ford fiesta. Otherwise everything worked out well.
The pick up location couldn't have been more convenient and the counter staff person was extremely friendly, courteous and professional. The car was perfect for our needs as it was diesel and manual. The drop off location at. Orly was easy to find and the staff person was extremely helpful and customer oriented, which we really appreciated.
No hassles. Easy pick up and drop off. Exactly what car rental should be.
Although we didnt get the exact model of Fiat requested we did receive a new car with very low mileage... the pick up and return were both easy and the staff was friendly....
Basic Rental cost was good. CDW covered by credit card, But theft protection was outrageously overpriced, and then I would still have been on the hook for 900 pounds.
We had no issues with our car rental. We got what we requested and were quite satisfied. The only thing I'd recomment would be that someone go over the features, ie how to use cruise control. We couldn't seem to get it to work.
We didn't have a problem during our trip. The car was very nice and in excellent conditions.
I came in at 6.00am at school airport and the thrifty only opens at 7.00 am and is off location
Took car at 7.49 and returned car at 12.30 next day and was charge for 2 days GPS and tire insurance. For a total of 36 euros
No leaway ... For a few hours need to pay extra day
I have used Autoeurope several times and will continue to do so, as well as recommending it to others, the cars are clean, newer and avialable. I the service has been great and when I had a problem, AutoEurope helped sort it out.
Thanks from Canada
The two car options wI requested were not available so because I was travelling with a large dog it was necessary for me to upgrade to a more expensive vehicle. As I had written in advance to request the vehicle with the larger interior space I was not impressed.
I had litly problem whit the car 2 days after the pickup at the airport !
Change oil message and slow at front right tire.I returnd at the airport to asked them !
But they(AVIS) change-it for and very good oder one brand new car ,fastly ! And smily!
Very good service!
I rented a Peugeot 208 in Italy (Milan Malpensa Airport ) for 30 days, and I got the car I wanted. The 2 previous times, they gave me another car (same category, but smaller).
Good service, good deal, no surprise.
Only problem is that I tried to rent the car in 2 other locations listed in the web site, but no cars were available
Our car was upgraded which we did not really want but it was a very comfortable car. We could have really used a GPS.
The staff in St Malo was very courteous, however, when we asked about returning the car a day earlier they did not know if that was possible at all.
I am from Canada and rented a car in France through Auto Europe. Even though the experience was seamless, I didn't get the information up front on exactly what extra charges I'll have to pay to the rental company on top what I paid to Auto Europe. I was surprised by some extra taxes charged by the rental company (Hertz).
Always perfect and affordable.
I was a little hesitant to reserve a rental through a broker having had a bad experience last year with another one. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a shot.
Very happy with Auto Europe, will definitely do business with them next time I need to rent a car in Europe.
This was our second time renting through Auto Europe Canada. The only (minor) complaint I have regarding the booking process relates to dropping off the car in a different location. Frustrating having to keep randomly choosing pickup and drop off locations until you happen upon an acceptable combination. There must be a way to restrict the drop off location options to ONLY those ones that work with the pick up location.
Aside from that, I was once again impressed with the excellent prices, selection and ease of booking through Auto Europe. Everything went smoothly. I had only to show my voucher to the rental company, and had no problem with pick up or drop off. There were no surprise charges and the car was as expected.
I fully intend to book my car rentals through Auto Europe Canada on all my future trips. I feel confident that I am getting the best price, and I know I will receive good customer service.
With such amazing rates and great deals it was the perfect way to ensure a safe and comfortable trip around the south of spain. More than what I could have expected from a car company!
Long wait to get car assignment. First car looked as if it had been in a demo lion derby. Right front wheel was different size of others and over 80.000 km. We refused this car. Second car had break failure, and shocks were worn out as well.. Brake shoes had gone. We managed to get a third car through Hertz in Perugia. A chap by the name of Pietro was very helpful with supplying us with a third car. Albeit the car still had over 55.000 km. Car was very dirty inside and out. We will not go back to Hertz!
We leased a vehicle at Amsterdam Schipol for aout 13 days. We had no issues whatsoever. We also called a day ahead of time to ensure we knew the time to return the car to avoid extra day charges. They were helpful in extending my time by 1 hour, which was greatly appreciated
Southampton service was done very well and the vehicle was checked in the normal manner noting any nicks or dents. Never once underneath.
Upon returning to Cambridge, the man knelt on the ground and looked under the car and claimed we had damaged it. We definitely had not and no one has ever examined a rental like that in all our travels. He then said he was going to put a claim on our insurance and I told him I would sign no such thing and then he said he would open it with a charge of 1 pence and I said I w still would not sign He then remarked on our mileage and i pointed out that we had unlimited. Not a pleasant way to end our vacation. We have NEVER hadf a problem before with this facility.
My reservation was already made and paid so it took about 10 minutes to make all arrangements to pick-up the car. I ended up with a free upgrade, the car was super clean and everything went well; I was comfortable because the rental included the service for any repairs/emergency on the road at any time of the day. The return at the Rome airport was a bit complicated because I was not familiar wit the location, it will be great to have some instructions.
Overall, really satisfied.
I have rented 8 times from autoeurope. Prices compare very well, especially when insurance coverage (required in italy) is included.
I get questions answered quickly, and when i have troubles with the actual rental company, autoeurope helps me through it.
i recommend people sign up for email advertisements because when there is a sale, the prices are incredibly good.
good value, good people, you will have a great vacation with support around you.
Everything was smooth, easy, reasonably priced. We had a GPS which we didn't think we would - and it proved invaluable. The car, a Renault, performed beautifully and fit our needs perfectly. It was a sweet car to drive - almost drove itself.
Another great driving experience in Europe.
Thanks.
We have VISA coverage for CDW however, we were told at the time of rental that we would require further insurance coverage which cost us more then the car rental!!
Our original feeling of getting a good car rental rate was not the case - it was hidden costs that were never conveyed to us at the time we selected the options online.
For future we will use a widely known company to ensure we don't end up paying more then we should, or worrying about hidden costs.
This was a seamless process. No unexpected charges, everything quick and easy,
a nice vehicle with good gas mileage. There was no pressure over extra insurance and the staff were very helpful.
The car was exactly as described in the original booking -- a VW Golf. The representative at pick-up was very friendly and spoke good English. Although the car was clean, it was lacking any windshield washer fluid and the brakes seemed a little noisy at low braking speed. On return to the rental agency I mentioned these two issues to the representative. He replied that he knew nothing about the car and that it was sent to them. There was no apology made for our inconvenience of having to wash the windshield by hand at rest stops because there was no fluid. Next rental I will check the fluid levels myself.
The service was efficiant in Rome and in Venice. We had 3 upgrades for the car. The only thing that I did not like is that nobody came to the car to explain the different functions: we had a hard time to opened the trunk and to modify the position or the rear seats, to put our suitcases. After one stop we could not start the car beacause the stearing was locked and we did not know where the hand brake was: hopefully, someone parked close to car helped us. We could not use the GPS because we did not know how it worked: we got lost during 1.5 hour in Rome.
My girlfriend and I reserved a VW Golf for 4 days with Europcar via Auto Europe. We were given a Toyota Auris Hybrid (almost brand new, 5k in mileage) instead for the same price when we arrived, which turned out to be great since the Auris Hybrid was a fantastic ride. The price was reasonable: $350 Canadian for the car for 4 days, including full insurance to play it safe, as well as unlimited mileage. We also had to pay $78 Euros after our drive for fees not mentioned online such as the location fee (you pay more if the pickup is near an airport), environmental fees per day, and about $50 Euros for the GPS.(so $128 Euros on top of our $350 Canadian) in total. Plus gas, which was 96 Euros for 1050 km. The car was very fuel efficient considering we were doing about 130 km/hour (speed limit in France when not raining) during most of our drive.
The one complaint I have is the driver's licence proof required when picking up the car. The girl working at Europcar said I needed a driver's licence that showed at least 4 years of driving experience (i.e. issued 4 years before the rental date). Mine only showed 1 year due to an address change last year (in Ontario, Canada you have to get a new driver's licence every time you move). Luckily, I had my iPad with me and was able to show her via the internet and a Service Ontario document which I found online that the 4 dots on the front of my driver's licence means I have at least 4 year's of driver's experience (I have 7 years exp). Otherwise, I'm not sure if we would've been able to rent the car, or, although I didn't ask what the alternative was, we probably would've had to pay a lot more as a 'inexperienced' driver. I was sure that she would've known what the dots represented since she deals with so many driver's licences, however she was fairly surly about it and I'm sure it was just a money grab. Therefore, make sure the issuance date on your driver's licence is at least 4 years from the date of the pickup, or be ready to explain the difference if it is less with an official document from the issuing authority in your country.
Enjoy the ride :)
Great experience from start to finish. Free double upgrade when my requested car was not available. Europcar is my "go to" car rental company when visiting Europe.
I got a car from Europe Car in Frankfurt; unfortunately somebody was recently smoking in it and the car was very smelly. No fault of Auto Europe, but worth to note.
Nous avons laissé l'auto le mardi 7 mai et nous n'avons pas encore recu le dépot sur la carte de crédit.est-ce normal? mon numéro de réservation 958355751.Merci
I reserved through Autoeurope which I have done many times before with satisfaction. This time the car was booked through Guerin Car Rental in Portugal. After a one hour plus wait to reach the counter, I was greeted by a person who insisted that I purchase unwanted insurance (I was already covered through other plans).for about 350 Euros or else they would have to get an authorization on my Visa for 21,800 Euros (twenty one thousand, eight hundred Euros).
Secondly, there is a service "Toll Service" that they explain very poorly. Bottom line they want to push the rental of a transponder and when the service is declined they leave the transponder in the car without advising you or disclosing the total costs of administration fees that will follow. My understanding is that they can add up to 25 Euros per identification - don't know what that means. In general, the service was rude in all 3 locations that I visited. I wasn't the only one - there were people with issues in all three. The second location was especially severe as there were 2 customers ahead of me with extremely vocal complaints. Two other customers came in after me for complaints as well.
I have rented cars in Europe many times (over 10 different times) - never experienced anything like I have with Guerin. My recommendation? - don't use them.
