Booked a cheap and cheerful break to Lanzarote. Was exactly what it says on the tin. Flights were with Ryanair - 'ya get's what ya pays for!' The accommodation was an apartment in the Playa Pocillos apartments in Puerto Del Carmen. This was fine, based on the Ryanair model, very cheap but all extras (including the remote for the tv {3 English speaking channels} and access to the 'Full' breakfast menu) cost more. The apartment is VERY close to the airport (4-5 min bus trip. Our hearts sank when we realised how close we were but, in reality, although you can hear the planes during the day, it was never an issue at nighttime - they must close the airports at night 'cos we weren't kept awake for one of our eight night stay. The beach (this is where the photo was taken) is three or four minute walk away (yes, it really is THAT close).
The apartment is in Matagorda, which is a short (cheap) bus ride to Puerto Del Carmen. We both loved the area. Very quiet, child friendly (felt very safe), and, unlike Puerto Del Carmen itself, much less holiday resort-ish. Weather was gorgeous in February.
All in all, we were both very pleased with the holiday. It's not four star accommodation but the price reflects this. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend lowcostholidays for another 'cheap and cheerful' holiday.
